  • What services do you provide?

We provide comprehensive landscape design, construction, and irrigation services. We also have a small Specialty Property Care and Maintenance division. Our design/build services are a turnkey process from inception to completion with thoughtful and innovative designs. Contact Phase One Landscapes when you need a landscape architect in Denver, CO.

  • What is the design process that your landscape architects and designers provide?

We have an experienced staff of architects and designers who will work with you to achieve a set of plans that meets your functional, aesthetic, and budgetary goals. The Initial Consultation Meeting (ICM) is at your home or site at no cost and is the opportunity for us to get a good understanding of your priorities, goals, and likes/dislikes. Overall budget parameters are discussed at this meeting. You will also be interviewing us to gain confidence in our abilities -- both in design and construction. We will send you a design agreement for a lump sum fee that is based on the size and complexity of your project.

To develop the base plan, we utilize a laser surveying machine that creates a plan with all of the existing elements, locates plant materials, and obtains grading information for drainage and elevations.

The Preliminary Plan is our vision of what can be realized in your custom landscape. This will propose all of your wants and needs with our creative and innovative solutions. We can use 3D modeling to help visualize the design, and a cost budget for the design is presented at the Preliminary Meeting. Decisions about design intent and costs can be evaluated and revisions are initiated.

The Final Plan is the result of all the discussions and will represent a design that meets your needs and budget requirements. The cost estimate at this stage is the bid of our landscaping contractors in Denver, CO to build the project.

  • How does the construction process work?

We have nine construction crews with three to five men on each crew. All of our foremen have been with us for five to 25 years, and the labor teams are very experienced with three to 10 years or more with Phase One Landscapes. Our operations manager will work closely with your landscape architect in Denver, CO to prepare the project for the crew. This includes scheduling, procuring materials, coordinating permits as needed, and reviewing the plans and scope of work. We will notify you of our proposed start date and schedule an initial walkthrough with the foreman to discuss the details of the project and overall scheduling with you. A foreman is assigned to your project and works daily with the crew. On bigger projects, we like to have weekly meetings with everyone to make sure communications are up to date and any questions or concerns you have are answered. You can communicate with your landscape architect about design questions and the operations manager about scheduling and processes. We have a punch list meeting at the end of the project to address any loose ends, questions, and general information about your new landscape.

  • How do you handle permits and zoning requirements?

Our landscaping contractors in Denver, CO have a thorough understanding of local regulations and permitting processes. Our team will handle all necessary permits and ensure that your project complies with local zoning requirements. We may need to engage a survey company for a pin survey to establish exact property lines and request HOA guidelines, and we may require additional information from you for variances and landmark approvals.

  • How do you invoice your construction projects?

Most of our projects are invoiced 10% of the project total at contract signing, then 20% when we start the project, 30% when the project is 50% complete, 30% when the project is 90% complete, with the final 10% after project completion and acceptance. The percentages can change based on the project size.

Our larger projects are invoiced 10% at contract signing, then bi-weekly billings for tasks completed, with the final 10% of the contract total at completion and acceptance.

These invoices are emailed to you through Quickbooks and you can pay online, by check, or by calling our office for a credit card payment. For more information, contact our backyard landscapers in Denver, CO today.

  • Is my project under warranty? How does your warranty program work?

Our landscaping contractors in Denver, CO guarantee the work and all plantings for one year. We also extend the warranty on paver, brick, and stone patios to two years. An inventory of the plantings will usually be done between May 15th and June 30th to identify any dead plants, which will then be scheduled for replacement within 30 to 45 days.
